How Much Is the Polygon Gas Fee in 2026?
A complete breakdown of Polygon gas fees — how they are calculated, what affects them, and how to keep costs low.

- Gwei and MATIC Units
Polygon gas fees are among the lowest in the blockchain industry. Unlike Ethereum, where fees can spike to $50 or more, the Polygon PoS network keeps gas costs well under a cent for the vast majority of transactions. This is possible because Polygon processes up to 65,000 transactions per second using a combination of sidechains and zk-rollup technology.
The total gas fee on Polygon depends on two factors: the gas price (measured in gwei) and the amount of gas units consumed. A basic MATIC transfer uses 21,000 gas units, while interacting with a smart contract or decentralized exchange may consume 100,000 units or more. At 100 gwei gas price, a simple transfer costs roughly 0.0021 MATIC — less than a fraction of a cent.

Polygon adopts the EIP-1559 fee mechanism, which splits each transaction fee into a base fee (burned by the protocol) and a tip (priority fee paid to validators). The base fee adjusts up or down by 6.25% per block based on network congestion, keeping the network stable even during periods of high demand.dit quo minus id quod maxime placeat facere possimus, on omnis voluptas temporibus autemi quibusdam et aut officiis debitis
